In the absence of the commercialism that cushions one from the Caribbean, Little Dix Bay connects one to the surroundings. Cottages and guestrooms blend unobtrusively into the surrounding landscape; guests arriving by boat do not notice any apparent building lines, only white sand with Bohio huts as sunshades against a backdrop of sea grape trees and coconut palms. This attribute upholds founder Laurance Rockefeller’s vision of a vacation hideaway that emulates a style of low-key luxury while embracing conservation and reverence for the environment.

We went to Little Dix 13 Oct 01 ö 28 Oct 01 for our wedding and honeymoon. 7 more family members were there for the 1st (wedding) week as well.
The resort itself deserves 4 stars, excellent. It is one of the nicest resorts we've seen so far. If you have any issue with your accommodation and it is not resolved within a day, contact the management and it will be taken care of immediately.
The restaurants deserve the same rating. However, only international cuisine is offered. The meal plans are no viable option, as no drinks are included, breakfast is up to $16 and the most expensive entree is $40 (MAP $90/person/day). As there are other very good international and west indie restaurants in town 10 to 20 walking minutes away, you may want to venture out as well.
The boathouse is very accommodating to all your water sport needs. Just make sure that the respective ones are part of your travel package.
The wedding coordination is good regarding application and preparation for the wedding. However, during our wedding a recoverable issue occurred that was out of anybodies control, which made the wedding coordinator panic and we had to start micro-managing our own wedding. Hopefully, this was a single occurrence.
For small groups the best wedding time is 4PM. It will allow the ceremony on property, a reception w/ champagne & cake, as well as pictures at the beach et al. DO NOT TRY 5PM. The sun sets quickly in the Caribbean and 15 minutes before sunset, as indicated on the weather report, is a hard stop for photographs ! The resort has a couple of picture perfect spots. Special requests will be accommodated, but then insist on a rehearsal !
Overall, the kitchen, dining and housekeeping teams build the heart of the resort; very nice, personal, and capable people. If you want something out of the ordinary, keep management in the loop and you're all set.

My wife and I just returned from the most wonderful vacation we have ever had. We spent a week at Little Dix and could not have been more impressed. Originally heading for a sister resort in the Grenadines, that ended up closing early for renovations, our reservations were honored at Little Dix.
The moment we arrived at the tiny Beef Island airport our bags were rounded up and then we were whisked away via boat to the resort. Rum punch in hand, we had the boat to ourselves for the 20-minute ride.
The standard ocean view room was fine, though I recommend you get a bigger room as far away from the sometimes-busy pier. With all the action there it tends to be loud at times. The rooms on either the east or west end seemed to be nicest. The grounds were beautiful and staff was very accommodating.
Being the beginning of slow/hurricane season (September), we practically had the resort to ourselves after Labor Day. This was both good and bad. It was great only sharing the 1/2-mile wide crescent beach with a handful of others. The lack of other guests added to the already understated nature of the resort. However, no one told us that two of the three restaurants would be closed. That withstanding, the food was outstanding, as was the service. We got the MAP plan and probably will not next time since it is no less expensive than dinning a la carte. Plus there are other restaurants we would like to explore on and around the island.
The island of Virgin Gorda is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. You should definitely visit the beaches outside the resort - Little Valley Trunk, Spring Bay, and the Baths being highlights. The resort has complimentary water taxis that can take you to any one of a number of beaches. The snorkeling in the resort's reef protected bay is good - we saw lemon sharks, rays, barracuda and many fish.
As with everything in life, you get what you pay for. And at Little Dix you get a lot, but it doesn't come cheap. Other than the water taxis, welcome bottle of rum and fitness center not much else is included.
Little Dix is as they say, "Understated elegance" and it's a great place to go to relax and decompress from the everyday world. To bad we had to leave, but at least we have our return to look forward to.

Great food, ambiance, and the service is excellent. What a wonderful and romantic spot to have dinner and spend a few memorable days. There's always a band with dinner and everyone is there to please the guests.
