VIRGIN GORDA
Biras Creek is an exceptional resort, located on a strip of land between two hills on a 140 acre peninsula. It can only be reached by boat. The property touches three distinct bodies of water: the protected lagoon of North Sound, the open Atlantic Ocean, and a beautiful Caribbean bay - a paradise for swimming, sailing, and snorkeling, at the edge of the resort's private white sand beach.
The hub of the property is a hill-top stone "castle", holding the reception area, dining room, and bar. Tucked in nooks and crannies are a chess den and library. The restaurant and terrace bar are at the highest levels giving breathtaking views of the Sound through its "open walls." Nearby are a snooker room, and the Arawak Pavilion with its big screen DVD and lounge chairs for enjoying spectacular vistas over the North Sound.
GETTING HERE:
Once at Beef Island Airport, a Biras Creek representative will escort guests for the two minute drive to Trellis Bay and to a private launch for the 30-minute journey to Biras Creek.
When arriving into Virgin Gorda Airport, you will be met by the hotel taxi for a 20 minutes drive to Gun Creek, then a 15 minutes boat ride to Biras Creek. These transers are complimentary (based on min 4 nights stay).
GETTING TO VIRGIN GORDA:
To ensure complimentary transfers (based on a minimum four nights? stay) from Beef Island Airport, Tortola or Virgin Gorda Airport, guests must advise their arrival details a minimum of 48 hours prior to arrival. In the event that guests should fail to advise their arrival times, transfer costs may be charged.

Hotel Restaurants and BarsLunch is served in the main dining restaurant four days a week. Some days it is served beachside and features a Barbecue of grilled meat and fish accompanied by a lavish buffet.
In the evening, diners sit at candle-lit tables facing the sunset, selecting from an award winning cuisine menu and an excellent selection of wines.
DRESS CODE: Shorts or dry bathing suits with cover-ups are permitted in the dining room during the day.
After 6:00pm gentlemen may wear trousers and a collared-shirt. Ladies may wear suitable resort attire.
Hotel Activities and EntertainmentSWIMMING: Sunbathe and swim in Deep Bay, or enjoy non-motorized watersports -- Hobie Cats, Sunfish, Lasers, Windsurfers and Sea Kayaks. A water-sports instructor is available for free lessons.

I visited Biras Creek for 6 days at the beginning of March. I have been to the British Virgin Islands several times in the past, but it was my first stay at this particular resort. To say the least, it exceeded the greatest of my expectations. The rooms were comfortable, clean, roomy, very updated, and featured picturesque views of the surrounding turquoise water. The staff was incredibly accommodating. A small motorboat was included with our room. On one day, my boyfriend and I decided to take the boat to a nearby island for a picnic, and the staff had a basket packed for us with sandwiches, punch, fresh fruit, water, and cookies. We were spoiled throughout the week by the culinary talents of the world-class chefs. We also never lacked for entertainment. Besides the boats, there are a variety of water sports for guests to enjoy on the beach, as well as complimentary lessons for those who are interested. I can not praise Biras Creek enough. My week there was absolutely perfect, and I look forward to making it an annual trip!

This is a tough review to write. Based on the criteria regarding the review it appears as though any negative feedback will not be published. If that is in fact the case it is unfortunate. But here goes anyway, other travelers deserve it.My wife and I are avid travelers. We have been traveling for 11 years on a regular basis. We try and get away quarterly with a two week stay in April, this trip we usually reserve for the islands. Two years ago we visited Biras for a two week stay. Anyone pricing that trip knows it doesn't come cheap. We loved it. So much that we re-booked for last year. Here is the part I think people really need to know. Biras hired a new manager. Michael Nidjam. Our stay last year was one of the poorest in all our years traveling. The servcie was terrible. Many of the staff were rude. They ran out of food, portions were smaller, service was non-existent just to name a few. When we asked some of the staff we had gotten to know from the year before, they frankly told us that they didn't like the manager. They felt he treated them poorly. I can't say since I am not around during staff meetings, but what I can say is that I addressed these issues personally with Michael. Based on our lack of service, I asked for a refund on our service charge of a few hundred dollars and he agreed. He said, it was the least he could do. After our stay he was committed to earning back our business and as a business owner myself, I was pleased. I personally wrote a two page summary of our experience and submitted it with recommendations. So much so, Michael was actually talking about hiring me to help him. I work with businesses and their people on improving. After submitting him the summary, Michael failed to follow up with me. After a few attempts to conact him he did not respond. I let it go. A month ago, my wife and I were looking into our next trip and we were talking about how much we liked the property at Biras and wondered if any changes were made. We sent a summary to caribe isles, (the Biras reservation company) of our experience along with a question as to whether or not Michael was still on property. We made them aware that we were not at all pleased with his inability to follow up or through and if that was his style it was no wonder the staff was unhappy. Apparently, they forwarded it to Michael. We received a follow up from him and here is a quote. "To be quite honest though, the tone of your e-mail reads such that we would find it difficult to welcome you back warm heartedly."Now to summarize:1. We were the ones who overpaid by thousands based on the extremely poor service we received.2. We are the customer who not only had a poor experience for our vacation, but instead of simply complaining, we tried to help Michael and biras and he turned it back on us like we were the bad guys.3. Becuase we are honest, we are not welcomed back.I hope you don't see this as a rant. I hope you see it for what it is. Merely some useful information that people should have when they are planning on spending thousands of their hard earned dollars to vacation, relax and be treated like quests. The best decisions are made when you have all the facts.Hopefully you will see the value in publishing this type of feedback as well as the "oh what a great trip we had feedback." With this knowledge, it will either force Biras to treat their guests the way they should be treated, or make sure people that are looking to have a great trip, go to the place that is capable of giving it to them. Such a wonderful and romantic place. Very quiet very relaxing. The cottages are very attractive and the staff is more then willing to get you what ever you need. The food is wonderful and the menu is posted by the dock every morning. The bikes are fun to ride to the beach. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to go.
