The Seahorse Inn on Marigot Bay, owned and managed by your hosts, Jim and Erika Kany, is truly paradise found. We know this because we have been looking for years. We found this gem after visiting more than 20 islands in the Bahamas and Caribbean. No other accommodations compare to this small and personal inn. The picturesque stone inn sits amongst tropical flowers on the side of a lush green hill overlooking the turquoise waters of Marigot Bay. Morning greets guests at the inn with a feast for the eyes as well as for the taste buds. Erika serves fresh local fruits, homemade baked goods and fruit jellies in the inn's common room which has a wall of floor to ceiling glass French doors opening on to an unparalleled view of the bay. Cocktails from the honor bar can also be enjoyed savoring the same view and watching the yachts as they enter the bay and drop anchor for the night. At least three of the eight charming rooms offer a bay view. Each room is unique, has its own personality, and is decorated in Caribbean style. Jim and Erika are attentive and gracious hosts. They provide ample information about what to do and see in St. Lucia. A short walk along a stepping stone path through the woods (lit at night) leads to the palm lined beach, the ferry dock and one of the four restaurants on the bay. The small ferry runs 24 hours. There is no place like this, each of our four years at the inn has been different and just as good or better than the one before. Don't miss the experience.(Review originally submitted on April 8, 2001)
