Joel and Sonya have been pleasing diners for over 30 years from their colorful creole house at 96 Front Street in Philipsburg, making them the oldest restaurant under the same management on St Maarten. The menu features escargot (of course!) in seven different styles, each more interesting than the next, but goes on to include the finest of French cuisine.
As Graham Porter said in the Today newspaper: "At the risk of sounding cliché, experiencing fine dining on the island without a visit to L'Escargot, is like a long vacation in the Caribbean without the sun and beach."

i had to wait till my last day in sint maarten to have my unforgetable moment.
A friend told me about this place, L'escargot, and we choose to go there for their cabaret show " La cage aux folles". After a nice dinner, my wife, two friends and i had a wonderful time. it was a blend of transvestite, cabaret. The staff is taking part of the show, including the owners, the chef and the waiters...
The food was great , in decent quantity, the atmosphere is warm.
If you go there,( and please follow my advice ) do not forget your camera, it worth it.

L"Escargot was a real disappointment. Service was rude and spotty, the wine list limited (and pricey), and generally a poor dining experience. I would recommend McDonalds (just two blocks down the street) rather than going to L'Escargot again.

I work in the cruise industry and have eaten at fine resteraunts all over the world, L'Escargot is on of the finest. The hospitality, food and ambiance are supurb. To those who disagree, get out and experience the world, then get back to me.

One star is far too much praise for the mistake known as L'Escargot. At most restaurants on the island, the exquisite food justifies their high price; this restaurant is worth ten cents on the dollar. The hospitality of the owners and staff would offend your mother, your father, and probably half of France. Regarding the entertainment, a sixth-grade Ashlee Simpson would upstage the lipsynching act of these poorly disguised men. In all, no amount of intoxication or comatose would bring me back.
