Breathtaking location, lovely beach and pool, and the Jade Restaurant and Bar under Mario's guidance with chefs Masson and Roberto and friendly staff are outstanding. All these merit 4 stars. The hotel has a challenge to reach the same standard, particularly with respect to the appearance and cleanliness of the lobby, checking in (and out) at reception--first impressions are critical--room appointments, shower water pressure, and noise pollution (staff calling and scraping tables and chairs on tiled floors as early as 6.00/6.30 in the morning; pool room noise late at night). Great potential to this resort, especially if activities such as sailing lessons and opportunities were available for younger generations.

Oyster Bay Beach resort is wonderful. I just returned from a week's stay on June 19, 2004. I own a timeshare and stayed at Oyster Bay through an exchange with Interval International. I upgraded at Oyster Bay from a studio to a one bedroom apartment. They charged a flat fee of $100 for the entire week. It was well worth the charge. The one bedroom is large with a full kitchen with built in microwave, dishwasher, ice maker refrigerator and fully stocked with kitchen supplies and dishes, pots and pans, glassware, etc. We loved the kitchen so much that we went shopping at Grand Marche supermarket (food is very cheap there compared to US prices) and cooked several meals. The apartment has remote control AC, CD player, VCR and 2 TVs, a large balcony with furniture, bedroom with king sized bed and living room with sofa bed, glass dining table for 4. The decor is tropical wicker. The bathroom was large with two sinks and bidet. It was quite comfortable. Oyster Bay is a beautiful resort, immaculate and has flowers all over the property. It is in a somewhat secluded area on its own private inlet right next to Dawn Beach, but it is only a 10 minute drive to Philipsburg and 10-15 minutes to Orient Beach. They offer many day trips and in-town trips which include lunch or dinner at a restaurant in Grand Case or on the Dutch side. Lots of fun!!! We did the 3 Island Snorkle, Celine Sunset Cruise with dinner at Jimbo's, Casino Night with free bingo and pizza party, and we won a free week's stay in the Friday Night Raffle where the resort gives away a bonus week. So we will definitely be returning to Oyster Bay in the near future! The resort also offer special events all through the week at the resort, bar specials, food specials, etc.The pool at Oyster Bay is a free-form infinity pool very large and the pool area is beautiful. The marina at Oyster Pond is beautiful with boats docked which makes for very nice views against the mountains surrounding the area. The resort has a fitness room, several shops, laundry, restaurant and bar. Mr. Busby's and Ms. B's Beach Bars are right on Dawn Beach next to the resort. The staff is friendly and helpful and I would recommend this resort highly.

This timeshare resort was great in a few respects, poor in others. Its location is rather remote from most restaurants, Phillipsburg, and Marigot. The studio we rented was very small, bed very hard, and hot water tank kept being a problem, as gas bottle used to heat water kept running out just as you needed a shower and took a little time to fix (3 times). Restaurant on site just adequate, staff was friendly. Its biggest saving grace is its location adjacent to Dawn Beach. I would not return to OBBR.

Excellent place to stay on St. Martin. Dawn beach is one of the (if not the) best beaches on the Island and we thought the best place to snorkel. The food at Jade(O.B.)& Mr.Busby (beach bar) is good too. The pool at Oyster Bay is worth the stay itself, beside great customer service at check-in&out, and great orientation to help plan out your week. After spending the whole week seeing the Island, I wish we would have spent more time just enjoying the resort & Dawn beach. Sure there is the $50 gov. time share fee & (at most $12 a day) AC fee, but if you know it going in that is not too much. We will definately come back to Oyster Bay in hopefully the near future. By the way, if you take a day trip by boat to St. Barth. take your sea-sick pills prior to the trip (half the boat could have used them the day we went- it took me the whole day to recover; would not go the next time).

My husband and I stayed at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort in June of 2002, for our honeymoon. The resort was awsome. The employees are extremely friendly and make you feel as if your part of a family while you enjoy your stay. We were so impressed we even did join the time share program offered by the resort, but felt no pressure to do so. We can't wait to go back, I'm so glad a family member suggested the resort to us.

This resort is still under some construction and is very much on it's way to be 5 star. While we were there, there was no heavy construction, but you could see them loading furniture and such into the recently done buildings. The pool was always clean (they clean it religiously) the restauant was tastey if a bit pricey but there are several restaurants within walking distance that offer very good food with great views at reasonable prices. The resort is at the far east side of the island and you will want a car. They offer car rental starting at $35 per day, but I"d recommend renting one at the airport for about $30/day. We rented a Suzuki Jimmy and opened up the top. The only way to cruise the island if you ask me.My complaints: 1. no laundry facilities. They are opening up a (coin?) laundry room but it is unfinished as of yet. 2. They recently instituted an energy tax ($12 for a two bedroom per day) for air conditioning but you may request this to be waived if they lock off your A/C. We chose to keep it as noon-3 can get kinda sticky. The activies desk has many organized functions and can recommend other places for stuff they do not handle directly. The island snorkeling boat trip was highly recommended by people that were staying at the resort, although we did not personally partake.Definatly go to orientation Usually Sunday around 10-ish.There is a beach right next to the resort, clean and you can rent a lounge chair and drink $.75 Caribs (local beer) until 4. What a life, I wish I had gone for two weeks.

Just returned from the Oyster Bay Beach Resort. You will definitely need a car. Three big complaints: (1) cows on the beach (you had to dodge cow patties); (2) $10.00 charge for a beach chair; (3) $12.00 a day energy tax (just instituted a few weeks ago). This energy charge is in addition to the time share fee and island tax and with this energy charge, your bill on check-out can be quite unexpectedly high. While I do plan on visiting St. Maarten again in the future, I would not stay at this resort in the future.
