Barbados Museum
The Barbados Museum was established in 1933 by a small group of concerned citizens, including the prominent local lawyer and historian, Mr. Eustace Maxwell Shilstone, after whom the museum library was named. The Society was incorporated by an Act of Legislature in 31st May, 1933.The Barbados Museum and Historical Society has been given the mandate to collect, document and conserve evidence of Barbados cultural historical and environmental heritage; and to interpret and present this evidence for all sectors of society.Today the Museum is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation with a membership of more than 1000 individuals and companies.
