BAJAN ROOTS & RHYTHMSWhen in Barbados, the one show you must not miss is Bajan Roots & Rhythms, held at the Plantation Theatre every Wednesday and Friday from 6:30pm – 10:30pm.  It is the only dinner and cabaret style stage show designed to offer visitors and locals alike a genuine representation of Barbadian culture and its influences.This cultural extravaganza is an all inclusive value package with unlimited free drinks, providing unrivalled live entertainment that beautifully and creatively pays tribute to Barbados and its musical heritage.Bajan Roots & Rhythms delights with vibrant scenes of: The Plantation dancers “Making Noise” to the music of local band Spice and Company.A tribute to “The Motherland – Africa” from Egyptian belly dancers to the colourful and authentic dance of West Africa.Cassius the renowned Fire Eater – heating up the place!Bridgetown of yesteryear where you meet characters such as the ‘Nut Seller’ and the ‘Coconut Vendor’ in an old time market scene performed to a medley of popular local folk tunes.Uniquely talented Stilt Walkers performing to hot local “Ragga Soca” rhythms. ‘Club Havana’ with hot Latin rhythms and sexy outfits moving seamlessly into Carnival in Rio with colourful and exuberant costumes which will leave you breathless as the dancers electrify the atmosphere.The sexy Jamaican Ragamuffins with their “irie” routines performed to the music of popular reggae artistes through the ages, including Bob Marley. Traditional local folk characters Shaggy Bear and Steel Donkey in a spectacular tumbling routine.  ‘Mother Sally’ who will make you laugh until you cry, dancing to the popular Barbadian calypso “Inez”. Crop Over in Barbados, a fitting climax, with the full cast including tumblers, stilt men, a carnival King and Queen, a renowned flag waving champion and all the dancers in stunning costumes, celebrating the end of the sugar cane harvest to the theme “Fire”. But the fun doesn’t end there.  Take on the challenge by our ‘Limbo Queen’ and join her on stage to show her just “how low you can go”.  The stage is then turned over to the Plantation Band, the best band on the island, with the very talented local icon, John King on lead vocals, who revs it up another notch by performing Soca, Reggae, and ‘back-in-time’ megahits for dancing or just listening. Bajan Roots & Rhythms is a tribute in Dance, Song & Spectacle to Barbados and our heritage.  It is no ordinary evening out; it is a Dinner, Show and Party!
